The final Banquet of the Convention was a grand affair. The first pic is of Marple, a very well known designer, who presented a great program after dinner. Also in this pic is current State President, Karen Brown (a wonderful lady).

Small arrangements were part of the Flower Show

All of the tables have flower arrangements at the meals. This one features orchids. Orchid sprays that were over night shipped to us by Marion and Steve Frost. Marion and Steve live in Monroe Connecticut. We are so thankful to our friends across the country for adding this amazing accent to our Convention.

Well, here it is, September of 2010. Where has this year gone? I can tell you most of my year went. Between January and the end of June, our little district of garden clubs was planning for the State Convention to be held here in Klamath Falls. It was a LOT of work but I believe everyone who attended enjoyed the event. It was a lot of Fun, learning and sharing good times with old and new friends. We did ourselves proud.

There were a LOT of mosquitoes where we camped. Of course Blair is allergic to mosquitoe bites and bee stings. The mosquitoes had a feast on him, this is just his face where the bites swelled up something fierce.
This was very interesting! Chinese were brought in in the early 1800's to work the mining operation. They built walls on each side of the creek about 5' tall, down to bedrock. Bedrock is where most of the gold is found because it is much heavier than any of the soil. These rock walls have been in place for almost 200 years. Just some of our American heritage, the feats of slave labor.

This view is along the east side and includes the bird feeder. There is a gate in the front corner.
This is another corner back by the small house. There is another gate facing. This gate just about didn't happen but is necessary to access the back portion of the garden. We plan to spray stain the entire fence the light green transparent green.

Ah, there's my boy at a nice trim 93 pounds now. He and Annie are getting used to going around instead of through. I am so happy to have this fence to keep my garden dog free.

Klamath River Prospecting

On the way down the Klamath River Canyon these markers are painted on a rock next to the road (where I was standing). The road is about 10 to 15 ft. above the river level today. The top one was January 1997, the bottom was about the same time 2005.
We went high-banking today on the Klamath River. We set up and run a hose (2") to the pump at the River.

Blair is inspecting the slush box after we had run about 10 + buckets of dirt. It is hard work but it's fun to get dirty together.

Blair and Tony panning their concentrate. Tony had to shave his mustache to seal around the air mask. It's a new look for him.

Tony has really gotten into this diving thing. Blair has to do most of the air monitoring, but I don't think he minds. But, he really likes being down there under the water also.
We had to pull the air cord to get Tony to come up for pics. He saw GOLD!! and really got into the diving (which he has never done before). I think they are planning the full summer next year for dredging.

One person is under water and one is on top making sure the air supply is constant and ok.

They have seen a lot of deer and small grey fox in the evenings and mornings. Also a lot of fish, Tony will need to get a Calif. fishing liscense for next year.

Linda and I drove over ( 3 hrs. each way) to spend a few hours with the men. We brought Bart and Annie.

Master Fence Builder

My own master fence builder finished the back fence. We had to take out a climbing rose but it will grow back. There is Annie inspecting what has been going on. It's so nice to have more privacy from the duplexes out back.

Blair, Linda and Tony (my son and wife). We didn't find much, but we had a good time prospecting. It was HOT! 97 degrees

A lot of northern California has been burning this summer. Actually, I thought it was all burnt up by now but that's not the case. Anyway, down in the bottom of this beautiful canyon is the Klamath River and where we highbanked for gold on Saturday.

Well, HERE I AM and don't I look absolutely MARVELOUS ! !

My new rearend ( sorry, you can't see my rearend), my new stuff under the frontend - see it's painted red to match my jack - My louvers in the hood cause sometimes I'm such a hot head and my cute smiley face spot lights. OH, there is sooooooooooooo much more and Dad really worked hard on me ..........

Blair has the new rearend in, the brakes in and is fixing something else that needs to be changed because of the gear ratio. I think I have that right.

I'm the Jeep Dad and Mom bought in 2004. The first thing I got was new rims and tires, aren't they spiffy?

I have a canvas top and windows for when it's "cold" out, but in the summer I go topless.

My engine didn't have much spunk so Dad put a big Ford engine under my hood and I can really go now! But I seem to need a stronger rearend to keep me goin great.

The dirty, smaller one is my old rearend. The newer, larger, stronger one is my new improved model.

All Dad has to do now is put me back together and I'll be goin down the highway again.

I'm Izzie. I live in the 8' x 10' greenhouse out in the back yard. I like it here cause I can run all over the place. Mom comes and feeds me and talks to me and, though I don't like it much, she pets me. I really like squash, collard greens, and some fruit. But, I also like the leaves and flowers off the hybiscus bush. Mom gets a little upset when I eat all the leaves. She moved it outside. And the geraniums, I ate all the leaves off one of those before she noticed. They are all outside for the summer.

I'm just 5' long ( including my tail ) and I don't care how much I weigh. I'm potty trained and have a litter box I use every day. I'm such a good girl ! OH, I have a LOT of teeth too.

This old van seat has served as our porch couch for about 10 years and is in pretty good shape, except where Bart (the German Shepherd) chewed a hole in the seat. Annie is to Barts left and Tootsie is on Mom's (Mildred's) lap.

We come out here to sit in the evening after a hot day.
